Unless I'm mistaken, we haven't had a balanced buget in years, so this stimulous money is borrowed (China?), saddling us with even more national debt. Funny how 70% of our current debt was incurred under the last three conservative (laughs to self) presidents!

Make sure you vote.:mug: If we keep digging this hole, we will reach China!:tank:

Since a huge chunk of our savings is going towards our down payment, this check is going right back in there.

Boring, I know. :)

Suppose you owe $300 in taxes when filing April 15th.

Do they deduct from the stimulus check ?

(1,200 - 300 = 900 ... still enough to start kegging! )

Filing your return is what triggers the stimulus payment. So the only way your scenario could happen is if you filed and owed, but didn't pay. Then the IRS might withold your back taxes from your payment.

Q. The notice I received shows that I should have gotten more than the government actually deposited into my bank account. Did something go wrong?
A. It could be that the amount deposited into your bank account was what remained of your stimulus payment after it was offset for money you owed on back taxes or other debts such as a student loan or child support. If this is the case, you’ll receive an additional notice, providing details on the offset.

Finally found something useful to use the money towards - the closing costs on refinancing our house... made the deal yesterday. We are getting $1,800 and the closing costs were $1,814.
