So I finally sacked up and tasted my first batch, not as bad as I thought it was going to be but still pretty bad. Considering that I know I didn't brew it properly to begin with it came out as an off busch beer, looked like OJ. Since I didn't die from it I can't explain how excited I am for my second batch to finish fermenting! Then I already bought the ingredients to brew that first batch again, properly this time.
My sweet first brew; didn't steep grains, put all grains and hops in muslin bag and added to kettle at same time as malt extract.. Didn't add the 3lbs of honey either which would have a made a huge difference.
My second recipe is from complete joy of homebrewing; Whitey's Gone Fishing pale ale if anyone wants to comment on it.
