Thanks for the elegant solution! I've got all those bits escept for the ball-lock shank, but I've been on the fence about getting one so I can take one of my baby-kegs to the family Xmas.

Added 3/8 - 16 304 SS finishing nut to give springs a higher mounting point - more leverage - and again borrowing from @Beermeister32 a finishing handle ...
