that isn't necessarily true. I think the acronym is stupid. I think defending its use because of the "cool comradery" that must be associated with its use is really weird. If what I said is somehow inflammatory, its because you are sensitive and defensive about the subject matter. you think swmbo is a cool thing to use when talking about brewing beer.

The only one sensitive and defensive is you.

The only thing about SWMBO I don't like is that they think they must be obeyed.

(Disclaimer: I've been known to have misogynistic views)

I resent that in many tv shows, movies and commercials, it seems OK for girls/women to step all over boys/men. And that the men seem too willing to be stepped on in the hopes that they might get lucky next weekend.

This is probably why I'm currently alone. I'm not willing to put up with this nonsense.

The latest Nationwide insurance commercial bugs me a bit, I admit. Were a man to go "SILENCE" to a woman in a commercial, there would be huge uproars in the FemLib movement. So many women talk about equality, but they seem to want to not be equal at all. Not all of them, but some.

:(

Someone is either jealous of us husbands, or has a wife that he doesn't need to obey.

Stop debating over acronyms. If you're really that bored, start cross breeding hops.

I understand most of you will continue to use this lame expression, so be it. I came in here for beer advice as Im still learning as everyone really should be. I did not realize it would be so filled with oversharing about lack of "hand" in your relationships/home. Please please please stop with the swmbo. please
Wow. Just wow.

But she's using a man's voice (overdub) when she says it, right? And it's way deeper than the other guy's voice, right? So it's like a man telling off a woman, right?

So it's all good. :D

$20 a man directed that commercial.

Or is lashing out because he has a wife (or husband? no judgment) that he ACTUALLY has to obey.. as opposed to just joking about it in good fun...

Yep. If I actually obeyed my wife, I'd be feeding my daughter and I wouldn't have the basement cluttered with brew equipment. And I would stop drinking. And I'd start cleaning.

Oh the horror.

Or lashing out because he doesn't get out much, left only to play minecraft, in his mothers basement, because no SWMBO will have him so he came here to learn how to welches wine and drink away his sorrows.

This is also a very valid possibility

How the hell am I supposed to write "I am!" With no vowels?

M!

I'm gonna acronym as a hobby. I think I'd be good at it.

Forget brewing. Brewing is lame.

popularized in the 1970's? irrelevant today ..

"The term originates from the H. Rider Haggard novel, "She" (first published 1886). The character Ayesha, known as She-who-must-be-obeyed, the Queen of Death, the White Goddess,of the lost city of Kôr who rules her kingdom with terror, She is the very image of the Femme Fatale. To disobey her or to scorn her is to earn & receive instantaneous death. "

please discontinue its use.

So, "cool" should be phased out, too? It's been popular since at least the 1950's!

:)

Ive got some free advice for you... swmbo is lame. using it is lame, if using it makes you feel like you are in some cool fraternity of internet posters using swmbo, you need more to do with your life. comradery cant be found in strangers on a hobby website forum.

Once again - wow. Just wow.

I think I might be able to speak more his cool language..

Im in no position to prohibit anything. I just wanted to get a feeling of how many people are on here that want to defend something stupid and how many people recognize your little acronym as stupid. I have learned a lot today.

You mad, Bro?

I hate when people say "bae". I just think it's one of those silly hip slang words.

I guess you SWMBO-haters could say you hate SWMBO just as equally.

The difference is, idgaf (thats an acronym for I Don't Give A Fudge) what goes in or out of your mouth. You could name your son Bae and I wouldn't say a word other than congratulations.

I won't analyze our differences. I'll just remain content in knowing my SWMBO isn't as lame as your bae.

I'm right there with you. Can't stand it. And like yourself, never once told someone to stop using it.
