This is why I shipped. I get these insulated boxes at work for free. Hamm knows. He received one. :)

Do they do well holding the cold out or would it be a good idea to ship with a bottle of hot water or one of those hand warmers?

Not really sure. I guess we'll find out when my box drops tomorrow in the Great Lakes region. :)

I was thinking about throwing a couple hand warmers in the box but I also wouldn't want the beer being in contact with what I would assume would be close to a 100* hand warmer.

Am I thinking to much into this?! Just want my partner to receive his beer! lol
Box is going from 19* weather to -5*, it will be a brick of ice when it gets there.

I was thinking about a small compartment to hold the warmer with 'air holes' to feed the hot air through would be enough...sort of like the son of the fermentor build principal. That would give 8-12 hours of sold warmth, but depending on how far your shipping, it may not hold all that heat for very long.

Mine is out for delivery today. It's perfect timeing because Weather.com is saying a 60% chance of 2-4 inches of snow tonight at their location. They can stay in and crack some brews.

Yea, that box is a beast, it could be thrown off a 5 story building and I think everything inside would be safe.

I thought about that too, but I don't think it would really do all that much. In my experience using those things with hunting and skiing, they don't last very long. And it isn't the first 12 hours I'm worried about, it's the last 12. Most of the time, my box usually sits in the FedEx store for quite a while before the truck comes.

I'm going to play it safe and ship on Monday. Checked the weather for my recip and it shows a warmup on Thursday, which is when I would expect it to probably get there. I just don't want it sitting on a truck anywhere in the Midwest or East coast on Sunday and having it be a 200oz bottle/can bomb mess. I assure you east coaster, you'll have it before the Superbowl.

Someone residing in Rockford, I'L has a box waiting for them. I hate to ruin the surprise when you get home, but accuweather tells me that it's 8° and -18° with wind chill. That scares the hell outta me.

I hope it made it safely!

With Psycotte's box it was about 2" of styrofoam inside of the structure of the entire box. I'm not sure if that would keep it any warmer, but it definitely helps with the strength.

Phunk has a package! Let me know if you can't get to it, I'll race out to Rockford to pick it up ;)

The package made it inside immediately, just working on my daughters breakfast before I can crack into it. Beer pron should be up shortly :)

Pretty sure that's gotta be Tröegs entire catalog!! Really stoked about all of these. There's just a few that I've had but they're all things I'd happily have traded for again.

So unfortunately there was an incident with the Heady... This package was ridiculously packed, like the dude used 2 entire rolls of heavy packing tape. So my scissors weren't cutting it (literally) so I had to get out my trusty pocket knife. Everything was moving along nicely as I was liberating the bottles, but then I got to a can... And sliced it wide open like Jack the damn Ripper... Spraying that sweet nectar all over me and the room... I was able to salvage about 10 oz that's currently in a mason jar in the fridge. I would've drank it right away but I've got quite the hangover from my IPA that I just tapped last night...

Anyway, this was a great haul with some epic beers from top notch east coast breweries!!! Thanks G-Love!!
