This past week I have made a trip to Houston from the DC area to visit my folks and have tried two beers that each had a slight taste of swamp water to them. One was from Covington Louisiana, called Swamp Bock (This one didn't surprise me), and the other from Conroe Texas that is listed as a blonde ale. I can't describe the flavor/essence as anything other than swamp water. Is this what happens when you use local water sources to make beer that are just not good sources? Between Conroe (houston Area) and Covington there are about 500 miles. So, I am just surprised to have tasted this twice in only a matter of days and from two sources so far apart. Anyone else have any experience with these flavors in beer, either commercial or homebrew?
