Little bit late but I ran a half marathon this Sunday morning. Just getting movement back in my knees now 10 hours later. Actually it's been a fantastic weekend- yesterday I watched one of the last displays of the beautiful, majestic Vulcan bomber XH558. She looses her airworthiness certification this year so the last flying Cold War V-bomber becomes a museum piece again. Spent the whole 13 miles thinking about how lucky I was to see her one last time. The roar of those Rolls Royce Olympus engines still makes my spine tingle.
Congrats on the run, and the experience. Need to make it past 8 miles. Love seeing airframes shown off.
Cheers, I only started running in January and before yesterday the furthest I had run was 10k- my advice would be JFDI - sign up for a 1/2 marathon and go- you'll manage the last 5 miles on the buzz of the event.
I have been working on it... Started with a 5k two years ago, a 10k last year and a 10 mile target this year. Two knee surgeries have impacted my ability to get down and do it; SWMBO has mandated that I will never be allowed more than a half marathon.
That is why the half next year will be followed by a sprint triathlon.
