Summit
Pretty old craft brewery (started in the 80's) in St. Paul, MN.
Had a bunch of their beers this weekend and REALLY enjoyed them. I've had the Extra Pale Ale before, so I started with the IPA. Very solid IPA. Wish I could have had it on draft. I also had the "Grand", a Bohemian pilsner that uses Warrior hops. It was damn good. Pretty hoppy.
My favorite though, is the Extra Pale. On draft, it leaves a sweet flavor on your lips and tongue that is really interesting. It is a VERY solid beer. I had a long wx delay at the Minnesota airport this morning so I started drinking early. Luckily Summit EPA was on tap. I had a decent buzz after 4 of them and slept the entire flight to Atlanta, LOL....
Another really awesome beer I had this weekend was from a microbrewery in WI called Sand Creek. The chocolate oatmeal stout was simply awesome.
I brought 2 bottles of it home with me--wish I would have brought more. This beer is flat out awesome.
Last, I found a cool beer store in Burnsville, MN. They advertise 1100 different beers. Whoa, they weren't kidding. I got a few hoppy bombers to take home. One is the Hopmouth Double IPA from Arcadia Brewing and one is the fresh hop pale ale from Great Divide. And then some Pyramid Thunderhead. I had a dedicated suitcase full of beer!
I could not find Alaskan Smoked Porter 2006 though.
