Pretty old craft brewery (started in the 80's) in St. Paul, MN.

Had a bunch of their beers this weekend and REALLY enjoyed them. I've had the Extra Pale Ale before, so I started with the IPA. Very solid IPA. Wish I could have had it on draft. I also had the "Grand", a Bohemian pilsner that uses Warrior hops. It was damn good. Pretty hoppy.

My favorite though, is the Extra Pale. On draft, it leaves a sweet flavor on your lips and tongue that is really interesting. It is a VERY solid beer. I had a long wx delay at the Minnesota airport this morning so I started drinking early. Luckily Summit EPA was on tap. I had a decent buzz after 4 of them and slept the entire flight to Atlanta, LOL....

Another really awesome beer I had this weekend was from a microbrewery in WI called Sand Creek. The chocolate oatmeal stout was simply awesome.
I brought 2 bottles of it home with me--wish I would have brought more. This beer is flat out awesome.

Last, I found a cool beer store in Burnsville, MN. They advertise 1100 different beers. Whoa, they weren't kidding. I got a few hoppy bombers to take home. One is the Hopmouth Double IPA from Arcadia Brewing and one is the fresh hop pale ale from Great Divide. And then some Pyramid Thunderhead. I had a dedicated suitcase full of beer!

I could not find Alaskan Smoked Porter 2006 though.

Reviews coming....

I love Summit beers! The Extra Pale is my favorite also. I wasn't nuts about the IPA, but recognized it as solid.

I always pick a case up when I drive through the Twin Cities on the way back from Canada. I wish I could get it down here, because I only go once a year.

Luckily, I live where their beers are readily available in bottles and, in some places, on tap. I like their Porter, Extra Pale, Oktoberfest and Winter Ale. Had the Hefeweizen on tap a couple weeks ago and after not having had it for awhile. Forgot how good it was.

Summit beer is one of the reasons I miss living in Minnesota! Fortunately I still visit with friends from that area and can trade cases of beer. The pale and IPA are both wonderful, but my favorite is the seasonal Winter Ale:

I love Summit's beers. When I lived in Eagan, MN, we toured their new brewery in St. Paul, great tour, generous samples and great group of people.

I enjoy their all their beers very much. If I had to chose 1 micro brew to drink for the rest of my life, they would be on the short list and I wouldn't be surprised if I picked them.

What I really enjoy about their IPA, is it's an English IPA, it is a nice change of pace as far as IPAs go IMO.

About Sand Creek. I don't know how long they've been around, but I noticed them a year or so ago. I've been quite pleased with the beers. My favorite is their English Style Special Ale. Speaking of which, it's been a while, I should pick up a 6er sometime soon! I also should try more of their brews, I've had 3 or 4.

Sampled the Northern Porter over the weekend and it was definitely tasty..big roasty & chocolate notes w/ suitable hop balance. The porter was the only example of their brews that I saw available at my local take out.
