I am making a malty Czech lager that I previously did as an extract (this one will be AG). It turned out great but the yeast used in the recipe (Northern Brewer recipe Tmave Vycepny) was a Wyeast strain that is no longer offered: Staro Prague.

What is a good yeast substitute? The recipe is fairly dark and smooth: not similar to a Pilsner Urquell but closer to a dunkel.

I appreciate any ideas. Thanks!

I am doing a test right now of the difference between Staro Prague and WLP 838 (southern German lager) yeast in a Munich style dunkle. I split the batch and they just finished fermenting. Unfortunately, I won't know for another month, but they seem to have similar characteristics based on the information I get from Wyeast and White Labs.
