Anyone have a Danube Merkel recently? I opened one with uvm2003 today, and it tasted like a shell of what it did fresh. All cherry in March, virtually none now. Not sure if it just fell of that quickly or this is an off bottle? Huge fan of all suarez, so hoping the latter.

wuntrikpony said this beer couldn't possibly be drinking better so I brought it along to War on Drugs at Hollywood Bowl. I am just going to assume I had the best beer of anyone there last night.

At 4pp who knows, I would assume so though. Glad I picked Saturday to go, now if only this cold would go away....

I figured as much. I've never followed their releases super closely. I'm going in a few weeks but I presumed it was a pipe dream to think they might still be around then.

No matter, I'll drink those low ABV beauts they have on tap all day long.

I was just up for the gd shandy shack, am trying to avoid spending money on beer this weekend, and now they have to go and release a fruit beer and Palatine cans. I swear to god, they'd better have a triple order of pretzels ready for Saturday. The **** I put up with...

I should be there at open. Will probably have my maroon TB/Cantillion shirt on. I am not hard to miss, look for the tall guy with a big ass beard frequently saying ****.

Anyone open the new merkel yet

Drinking one now.

Heavy cherry nose, very light acidity, pleasant sweetness. Not sour at all, no funk or anything like that, maybe just a tiny bit tart. Definitely more of a fruit beer, as Dan said.

I haven't had any of the other Merkels, so I can't compare it to any of them, but I do like it very much.
