My wife came home yesterday from strawberry picking with about 20lbs of fresh strawberries so thinking about doing either a strawberry wheat or blonde. Looking for suggestions for a good AG recipe. Probably looking to use about 4-5lbs of strawberries for a 5 gallon batch. Hoping for a nice summertime beer to enjoy come August. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here is what I decided to go with (tweaks / suggestions welcome):

BrewToad has this coming in at 1.051, 22 IBU, 5 SRM

Only thing still debating is the yeast...harvested the 1056 from a pale last week so thought maybe I'd just make a starter with that or I can go with some US-05 (have plenty in stock).

5 Gallon AG Batch

5lbs Pilsner Malt
3lbs White Wheat Malt
1lb Munich Light Malt
.7oz Carafa III

.5 Lbs Honey (flameout)
.5 oz Centennial @ 60
.25oz Centennial @ 15
.25oz Centennial @ 5

Wyeast 1056

Mash 153 for 60 minutes
2 weeks primary
2 week secondary racked on 4lbs Frozen Strawberries (picked last week)

I used about 4.5 lbs of strawberries in 2.5 gallons of beer and left it in secondary for about a week. The beer was great, and the strawberry was very prominent. A couple of suggestions I would add to my own beer next time: add some other flavor to make the beer multidimensional; I noticed that the strawberry was just about all my beer had to offer, and this could get boring. Second, after a week in secondary, I noticed that the strawberry flavor was on the verge of being sour. I'm not sure if that was a function of the high concentration of strawberries in the brew, or because I left them in secondary for too long, but I would be weary of both aspects for your own beer.

Good luck!!
