Just grind 1 pound of 2 row in a vitamix with half a pound of brown sugar, add a liter of water, grind until 155F, let it sit until it cools back to room temp, pitch a pack of muntons dry, leave the lid cracked for a couple of days, then blend it all up again and enjoy your hard smoothie, adding fruit of choice if so desired. Perhaps some banana for that Belgian esqueness.

I was wondering what the next innovation in homebrewing was going to be...:tank:

You don't need to do a stepped mash...the blades help the enzymes chop up some of those long starch chains.

Also; Looks like a recipe for "hard" steel cut oats for breakfast! Just saying...

Best part of waking up! Is "Hard" steel cut oats in your cup!

Doesn't quite have the same ring to it as Folgers.

I used to drink martinis made from cheap homemade vodka - I would get violently ill. Like deathbed sick. Then I realized that the olives were bad. Once I ditched those everything was fine .. but I don't see too well anymore. I think that was lasting effect from bad olives.

Remember kids, it's not real hootch unless it's made in the right vessel.

Oh look! This one has a secondary!

That's the exact model I have for fermentation! The thing I like about it best is that you can use it for multiple purposes when you're not brewing! Personally I think it makes a great DIY crock pot.

Or is the word crack what I'm looking for? Eh which ever.

I'd sit on that sucker the opposite way & shave while I, er... did some business.

:D

I get stomach upset from my really simple home brew. It really is a beginners home brew. I had brew that smells like garbage that I had to pour out. What I am concerned about is decent tasting home brew that well lets not get into details messes with your bowl movements. Buddy at the home brew store said, if it is contaminated it will taste so rotten you will not likely drink it and I had that a couple of times. This stuff however tastes great but still you know. I have very little equipment at the moment, it's just extract brewing. Can I expect this kinda results from all grain brew that I keg as well? What I am talking about is good taste but you might need a couple of hours to get rid of unpleasant bowl experiences.

It's probably caused by yeast, not any kind of beer infection. If you bottle, try putting the bottles in the fridge for at least a few days (or more) before serving. When pouring, pour carefully to leave the yeast sediment on the bottom of the bottle. If possible, cold crash your fermentor and use gelatin to leave as much of the yeast as possible in the bottom of the fermentor, and not your bottles. Don't worry, they will still carb fine.

Also, poor attenuation can leave a lot of sugars in your beer, which in turn can cause your issues. If you're brewing with kits, they might not have the best yeast. Try fermenting with known good yeasts (e.g., US-05 dry yeast). Kit yeasts are sometimes subpar (!).

Welcome! Did you read the thread? Either you got trolled, or you are meta-trolling  ...

I call shenanigans. A free membership upgrade then wins the next giveaway that is open to paid members only???

Something is afoot here. Passed, I demand a thorough investigation.

I will be glad to give this up...

:(

I enter in anything I can that gives something away for free, as I know I'll never win.

Now I've won something that I can't even use, and I might make someone else that could use it unhappy...

:( :( :(

I was going to give it to someone anyway, but thinking that me winning this might bum someone else out, is bumming me out.

Ha ha! Lighten up, man. I was just messin with ya. It's all random. Ain't nobody butt hurt.

If you feel so bad just give it away, pay it forward style. You will bring joy and lightness to many hearts.

This! Which admin you been sleeping with, Slym? Yooper? TxBrew?

It's TxBrew, isn't it?! And after he repeatedly spurned my advances!

OP hasn't been around these parts in almost 2 months. Somebody want to go pound on his door and make sure he's OK? I'd hate to think he's been passed out drunk all this time.

He's too busy guzzling half fermented wort while sitting on the toilet to get on.

I'm on it. Yes, I sense foul play as well. The HBT forensics team will take a day or two for DNA and mass spec analysis. Our blood guy, Dexter, is out fishing, but he's taking lead - no worries!
