Got myself caught in a slight pickle. I DIY'd my own stir plate but my stir bar hasn't been delivered yet. It's on the way, but now won't be delivered until Tuesday. Tomorrow(Sunday)is brewday and I wanted too make my starter this morning.

Are there any reasonable alternatives I can use, even just this once? I don't want to throw a screw or bolt in there, for fear of what it would do to my flask, no matter how sanitary I can get it.

This is what I get for putting off things, I guess.

Thanks in advance
Steve

cut a length of pen or vinyl tubing and see it you could jam the screw/bolt in it s just the plastic rubs on the glass. Tubing would be the safest in my mind as it should be food grade. whatever you do sanitize the heck out of it...

or a straw with a screwdriver drill bit inside... you could probably figure out a way to quick melt the ends of the straw to hold the bit inside.

Props to the ingenuity with the straws and stuff, but I do have to agree you're much better off just shaking it every hour or so. Better get to it tho cuz you want at least 24 hours of it doing it's thing before pitching IMO

Cool, thanks for the input, guys. I'm just swirling it every so often. I did make it up much earlier and probably won't pitch until tomorrow evening.

Again, thanks.
