Quick question I'm about to do a extract brew and have to steep grains in the directions it says to steep in 2.5 gallons of water my question is since im doing a full size boil would I just steep them in the 6.5 gallons or would I steep them in 2.5 then top it up to 6.5??

howdy neighbor. :mug:
i'd go with the lower volume to steep in, then add more water with the extract after the steep to reach your boil volume. when i steep for an extract batch, i do it just like i would a mash, 1.5 qts/lb of grain at 150-160 for 30 or so mins, then i'll top up to my pre boil volume, add extract and get to boiling.

Thank you for your help!! That's what I will do seems I picked a good winter to get into brewing we have been blessed with some great weather here in mn eh
