Steeping grains: Crushed or not?

I was at my LHBS to get all the ingredients for my recipe and it called for 1 pound of crystal 20. The guy asked me if I wanted them crushed or not and without thinking I just said yes, crushed. I'm doing an extract brew, by the way. Is it ok that the grains are crushed, or should I go back for more that aren't crushed? Thanks!
 
You need the grain crushed in order to extract the color and flavor from it.
