I’m planning a brewday and will have my ingredients shipped here. I don’t have a homebrew shop around. How long will my crushed grains last? Is waiting a week to brew too long?

Hi there! Assuming that the crushed grain is fresh, meaning it was crushed on demand the moment they prepared your order and you keep it airtight, in an adequate enviroment, you should be fine for some months. I personally had crushed malt that I held onto for at least 4-5 months, without any issues.

Not nearly as long as malts and grains that have not been milled.

But if it smells, tastes and looks decent I'd probably use it.

My first beer was a kit with milled malts. It was over a full year till I decided to actually brew it. And it turned out to be a very good tasting beer.

Some breweries have their malt delivered pre-crushed and it won't be used for months so relax it will still be good for many months.
