Airborne, I just realized that three of the bottles that I snagged from work are screw tops and the fourth is a proper wine bottle - I'm assuming the screw tops are no good right?

Yeah, its the corked bottles that you want for mead. Don't go crazy, this mead is at least 6-8 months away from being bottled. Thank you though! You can just bring them monday if you want.

Wait till you guys see my awesome, totally-not ", Midwest" blue collar way of taking notes for our meeting! I started jotting some ideas down last night on my iPad.

Speaking of jobs, I just went back to work after being laid off for 8 months. Every time I see something i can use in the brewery, and say "hmm, i can use this", my partner goes "what do we need that for". After 10 days, hes finally realizing that i'm not including "we" in the equation. I wonder how long a 50# co2 tank and a 90# propane tank would last

Sorry Im not going to make Monday's meeting I have to work but will keep informed from this thread.

Sonny , I started doing the same. I Think Monday we will have a lot of great ideas floating around from everyone and am excited to see what we come up with.

Mike,
We will for sure be posting what we went over Monday so everyone knows whats going on.Sonny said he will be taking notes on his Ipad Ill be jotting some stuff down as well so the info will find its way one here.

Thought this was pretty cool. It's my ex-GF's brother. Apparently it never panned out unfortunately. If any of you go to Chili's on Richmond, the youngest brother has been the bartender there for a few years now.

I've already begun developing an agenda, and I will pass it to Sonny when i'm finished. I'll also attach my idea as well, since he's jotting down the notes, might as well compile all the paperwork together lol.

Additionally, the forums are installed, and we will provide a link on these forums for those interested in continuing discussions regarding the brew club.

Also, something to keep in mind. Mark from NBHS, Doug from Barley and Taps, and Bubba would also like to stay informed regarding our meeting. So, in essence, we have about 10 people involved in these discussions (the appropriate amount IMO).

P.S. I work at SIUH North. I'm part of Marketing :X

I live in apartment with my girlfriend, but my mother's house in jersey has a huge backyard that I might use for growing hops. Need to discuss that with her first though lol

Mike check out great lakes hops they sell hop starts and hop crowns. The guys over they say there hop start will see cones the first year. That where i order from.

I have two plants, one going into its third year and the other going into its second. I don't really take it serious though and might even pull them out this year. As a matter of fact, the third year plant is potted and if anyone wants it, its yours. It is a C hop, but I don't know which one.

I might check that out. I ordered 5 rhizomes, so we'll see how they work out. Maybe i'll get a crown and see what it produces

No problem at all - I'll just grab whenever I see we have corked style empty clear bottles in the office - I carry my backpack with me anyhow and I have to come home - so it's no extra work for me.

If my plaints do good like i hope this year I am going to have way to much for me to use, so anyone that want some can have. This is what i am planting: Centennial,Chinook,Mount hood,Willamette,Cascade,Kent Golding

I know there is tons of ways people brew so my question what is your brewing set up like single tir, double tir, keggles, plain pots, counter flow chillers, plate chillers, herms, rims you guys get my point? Love that so many different ways to get the same product at the end..

My setup is still pathetic (though it's only two months old) - borrowing Mike's 3 gallon better bottle is already a treat!

I brew with a simple system. Actually, I have two systems, sorta. If I need to bang out a 5g batch, and can't get outdoors, i'll use my 5g round cooler to do a biab, boil in my 30 qt turkey fryer pot and chill with my IC, but pumping ice water through it with a tile saw pump. If I get outdoors, I use my 20g bk, 52 qt coleman extreme (copper manifold), ic with hose, two burners, and pure oxygen. I've been doing double brew days. My ferm chamber holds 3 buckets, so I normally do a ten and a five gallon batch, unless its a saison, and I dont temp control, then i'll do two ten g batches. No stand, just a table, but i'm in the process of building two seperate wood stands to make gravity work for me

Some of my treats are a refractometer and my new thermapen. Brew days are enjoyable, unless the wife is around bitchin and moanin, but she normally, stays outta my hair
