Question I never considered until tonight.

Making a 1.75l starter and I ended boiling down more than I expected to end up with 1.5l. Does the amount of liquid or amount of DME matter the most? Should I just top it off with tap H2O?

You can top it off with boiled, and cooled, water to reach the intended volume. A hard boil of the DME is not necessary. Add the DME to boiling water to dissolve it and hold it over pasteurization temperature of 160°F, for a few minutes will accomplish sanitation.

edit: Less volume, with the same amount of DME, will result in fewer cells propagated according to the calculator I use.
