Mistakenly used 1 oz of Star San for about 2 gallons of water instead of 5 gallons. Rinsed bottles and caps with it and bottled the beer. Should I be concerned by not diluting it properly?
If it is it still in the container, dillute. Otherwise lesson learned. I've lost a spray bottle where the nozzle disintegrated. I attribute to too strong of concentration. Wasn't instantly, but end of life was sooner than usual.
As a side note: avoid the misconception that a more concentrated solution is more effective at sanitizing or that it would require less contact time. Neither is true.
I've been using 0.5 ounce [15 ml] per 2.5 gallons [9.5 L], otherwise stated as 1 ounce [30 ml] per 5 gallons [19 L], for years depending on batch size. And have excellent results.
