this has probably been addressed before but i couldnt figure out how to search for the answer.

i recently got a kegerator and i noticed that after using it , the next day there is some stale sour syrupy drop in the faucets. its really sour and i dont want it in my next pour.

i previously had all my taps inside the fridge and never had this problem of beer staling in there.

how do you prevent this ?

will plugging them prevent this?

thanks in advance

thanks for the reply mac. yes these are forward sealing. the ones i had before inside that didnt cause an issue were not forward sealing. does that make a difference?

If I've not been pouring from my setup for even a full day or two I sacrifice short pour before the real deal.
As a guy that worked his way through college on a beer delivery truck, this was SOP back in the early 90's whenever I replaced a keg at an account. Put the keg on, then purge the line while telling the comedian sitting at bar that he can't have the beer I'm clearing out of the lines.

I swear there must be a law in the universe that states that every beer delivery truck driver attracts A-holes that think asking for free samples is the most brilliantly funny joke ever uttered by anyone in the entire history of the Universe.

I second the vinyl faucet caps. Lets the beer collect outside spout, keeps what's left from drying out quickly.
Never thought about filling them with anything.

It helps to keep lines and faucets chilled 24/7. Does this kegerator have a tower?

Cheers!

I have a top freezer fridge for a kegerator with the forward sealing faucets mounted thru the door. I've never had what you are getting and sometimes won't pull from 1 or 2 for 2 or more days and still no sourness.

I couldn't help notice in the nice pics you provided in other threads, that your fridge with the sodastream system had a nicely mounted rear-sealing tap... Inside the fridge, it's not so likely for beer to sour. If the taps giving you agro are the rear-sealing ones that came with that sweet deal on the Vevor kegerators, they are likely to sour quickly on the outside and like @OleBrewing brewing said above; Keep a spray bottle of star san and long tap-brush to hand and shoot some up the spout and scrub it every day before use. In the meantime, since you're ok with shopping Aliexpress; Visit @KegLand's aliexpress site regularly, the prices constantly change and I managed to score 2 of my Stainless Steel Nukataps on there when they inexplicably dropped to under $30 CAD. Forward sealing taps are far more hygienic and easier to clean. For now; Spray and brush regularly.

starsan in a spray bottle...I flush out my faucets after every session.
