Spruce Essence

Hey guys I am on my third batch of beer and I have decided to try and recreate a spruce tip ale from Alaska..... I am doing a blonde ale with a bit of Spruce Essence ... Have any of you guys ever used it and how much do you use per gallon?

Lots of info on this topic if you do a simple search. Seems that 2-4 table spoons is the preferred amount for a 5 gallon batch, with 2 being subtle and 4 being pretty potent.

Ummmmm... be careful with it. I dumped a 4oz bottle into a 5 gallon batch of pale ale. Have you ever smelled "Coast" deodorant soap? That is what it tasted like. I drank the batch and learned my lesson about excess.

Oh god, don't do it, wait until there's a local tree with new growth and just pick the green tips.
