Curious about this because this is my first time using a secondary. When I bring my face in to get a whiff of the beer (love aroma) and I get taken back by a slap to the face by a sour-ish aroma!

Now, I dry hopped a Chile Pepper/Ginger Amber Ale and thought it was just the dry hop leaves that got in my face (turned out it kinda was). This was a 2.5gal batch got my face in there and another slap in the face. (Strawberry pineapple lighter brew this time).

My question is: is it the yeast kicking my face in or is something amiss? (I am OCD when it comes to sanitation)
