I've had some more time to think and here are some more theories....

1. Tony and Phil both die
2. Tony and/or Phil get picked up on RICO charges before they can be killed
3. Tony died last season from the gunshot wound and this is all a dream (sort of like Dallas).

I think #3 would cause too much outrage. I didn't hear about the movie but I think after the losses he took last night, they wouldn't kill off Tony in the last episode. Besides, Tony is the "good guy" so who wants to end a series on a downer?

I heard that this episode was supposed to be the last but they decided to add what will now be the last episode to resolve things...

if that is true then I think it would have been a decent (not good, but decent) ending with tony on the bed with the gun...

I've watched every episode except for last season twice, I'm hooked...

but I've got to say that these last episodes have been a little weak until now

My guess is Paulie is going to try to kill Tony, might not succeed but he'll try.
My reasons are:
1. Paulie tried playing both sides way back w/ Jonny Sack
2. When Phil was ordering the hits he specifically left Paulie off the list and said they would decapitate and do business with whoever was left, which would be Paulie.
3. The shifty look he gave the other guys in the crew while tearing out of the parking lot of the Bing.
4. Paulie probably knows this is his only chance to be boss
5. Paulie gave the bad info for the botched hit on Phil
6. He said at his mother's wake that he wouldn't forget the insult of nobody showing up to the wake.

I'm probably wrong, but alot of stuff points toward Paulie and it would be kinda anticlimatic if one of Phil's random thugs gets Tony...

hmm very good points

Plus Tony tried to wack him when they were in boca....remember? on the boat?

Did anyone else think that Tony was going to kill himself as he was lying down in bed? He has almost no chance to survive. He must make his time. All his base belongs to Phil. I bet he'll take off every zig.

I think Paulie's connection to NY ended when Johnny Sack went to jail and died. Also remember that Tony did go to Paulie's mom's wake so why would he have it in for Tony?

As for Boca, Tony didn't try to whack him, he thought about it but he didn't do it. Paulie suspected it but I don't think Tony did anything besides think about it. It was all in their heads.

My vote is either AJ dies next week or he steps up and helps Tony kill Phil.

And for my third and final choice I am going to add that AJ will kill Tony.

Recap.

1.) AJ dies
2.) AJ steps up and helps his dad kill Phil
3.) AJ kills Tony

I didnt get to see much excapt the last 3 minutes and a few glimpses in the middle but from what I saw I liked it. Gonna go watch the rest sometime today but I'm glad too see Tony's not dead or in jail and basicly going on just fine. Plus i liked a lot of the subtle stuff they slipped in there.

The only thing that gave me concern is thinking back to the conversation Tony and Bobby had out on the lake . . . and the sudden going to black at the end.

So is Tony OK or ? . . . .

I thought it was just about perfect. three of the main themes of the show were food, music, and family. You had all 3 in the final scene. Plus, they did what they always do, they make the viewer suspect what is going to happen and then sometimes they take the story in that direction and then sometimes they completely abandon it. They tricked everyone into thinking something bad was going to happen there. The only thing that I was confused was the black screen, I like everyone else watching thought my cable went out the worst moment of all time, but again, I was tricked like everyone else.

I agree with Todd K 100%...it was awesome

The way Phil got it....classic (his grandkids in the car! that was awesome!!...they guy puking..perfect)

I like how AJ got his M3 finally and went back to being a snobby rich kid "23 highway, thats not that bad..."

And the ending was the best thing about it, just like a lot of the show it left us to think/debate what we each individually think...or everyone's tv f'ed up and we don't know!

-don't stop believing-

It goes back to the conversation Tony and Bobby were having on the boat and one of them wondered what it was like when it was all over and the other replyed it just goes silent and black

yeah, I've heard people saying that. I guess we got whacked.

yeah--I've heard the whole 'it goes silent and black' argument. I'm still not happy with the ending.

The fact is the show wasn't edited in such a way that we were a 3rd person following along with just Tony-- if it were, that ending would make perfect sense.

No, that show has long allowed the audience to see much more, geting alternate veiwpoints that are separate from Tony's-- we know things he's never been aware of-- in fact, many things in the show woudl make very little sense (or far less sense) if all we ever saw was the things Tony was aware of.

That ending as a result doesn't really fit with a show that has a long history of not only exploring Tony's personality but also shows what leads up to those things that influence him.

Neat little bows, I was not expecting--- frequently the show didnt' tie things up nicely for us but I thought that endpoint was just not well done.
