First post... but I must admit I've been quite obsessed with searching the world of homebrewtalk to expand my knowledge. I've finally ran into a dilemma I couldn't find an answer to. I just completed my 5th experimental IPA (was getting me excited as all hell after completion btw) and while cooling the wort in the tub my girlfriend decided to grab a bar of soap which dropped some residual mishaps into my batch. I'm still going for it and dropping my Safale 05 just to see what's up but wanted to know if anyone else had this completely random a$$ misfortune. And :mug: mates. Glad to join the community :fro:

This potential mishap was or is :

(Extract) - 5 gallon
Marris Otter 2 lb.
Crystal Malt 20L 1.25 lb
Carapils 0.25 lb
DME Light 6.5 lb

Hop Schedule (late addition)

Glacier (p) 1 oz. - (20 m)
Amarillo (p) 0.5 oz, Citra (L) 0.5 oz - (15 m)
Amarillo (p) 0.5 oz, Citra (L) 0.5 oz - (10m)
Amarillo (p) 0.5 oz, Citra (p) 0.5 oz, Centennial (p) 0.5 oz - (5 m)
Amarillo (p) 0.5 oz, Citra (p) 0.5 oz, Centennial (p) 0.5 oz - (1m)
Dry Hop - Amarillo (p) 1 oz, Citra (p) 1 oz.

Open to criticism!

A few pieces of the bar of soap... that soft residual zone after pulling from the holder. Didn't know if it would have an adverse effect on the fermentation.

Thanks so much for your quick response : ) I'll sleep better knowing I have another potential batch on the way

the precautions one needs to take.......especially in a bath tub....all those germies in the area, especially on a bar of soap..I'll bet the last place that bar of soap was, was cleaning a scrotum

Haha yeah it's probably the last time I venture to the tub for cooling. I don't need another scrotbutt sudsy brew
