I know this is crazy but im to broke to go buy a 10 six pack of Guinness every outer night. I usually get a sixer of bush.Today I just got the crazy idea to flavor it up a bit so I took a spoonful of Instant Coffee and a small cap full of vanilla added a small amount of water all in a shot glass and nuked it for 10 sec thin threw it in a glass of bush surprisingly it gives a background flavor that adds depth and the color isn't that bad either compared to the original product

I so cant wait for my first brew im collecting my equipment and im thinking im gona brew a stout!:rockin:

I know im nuts lol

not sure if this should be here or in drunken mindless ramblings :)

Wow.

If I had ANY in bottles, I would ship it to you.

maybe search the apfelwine thread... just read the first post and follow the instructions.

wow.

:mug:

Hopefully you'll wait for your first beer to finish fermenting before you start drinking it...

I actually have a apple cider brewing in the primary for one week now i have been brewing ciders for a little wile im hoping this one will be finished by Christmas

My annual ciders usually take several months in the bottle to come into their own, tried back sweetening a bit this year with some lactose... maybe ready earlier but hoping for early spring.

A quick low ABV low hop brown ale can be ready in 30 days... and very satisfying.

Shiner should be cheap in Texas! Their black lager was pretty good, for the price!

I love shiner bock and their black lager but they had raised there prices a few years ago its normally my beer of choice on a good weekend! your right i should be more patient ill give it the time it requires and browse around the stores for better brew in the mean time

SC had Black lager for $6 a six (along with some other Shiners) picked up 2 of the Black. They where even cheaper over the summer!

Funny I've been sort of missing the yellow fizz, thinking of making up like a Busch Light clone, but just can't bring myself to do it.

:off: BUT two words cream ale (4.5% ABV & 2 SRM)! I didn't think I was a fan until I brewed some for a camp out! Lower ABV Low hop BUT it was so good we killed a 5 gallon keg on the camp out.

Also think about a SMASH beer (single malt single hop) if your an extract brewer it's still possible with Munton & Fison Light dry malt extract. I did a Simcoe Smash partial mashing some M&F two row. Came out at 2 SRM, 3.8% abv and the Simcoe shined through big time! I'll be using simcoe again!

Sounds like me in college when I added cinnamon to a pumpkin ale. Tasted good. Stomach didn't like it though.

My wife and I had a can of Hamms or something similar left at our house. We did a blind tasting of pumpkin beers and added in Hamms with some pumpkin pie coffee syrup stuff in it. We both scored it worst.

nothin at all wrong with a little busch light action... my extended family was founded on it. i would support the recommendations to make a cream ale, it's a great session beer to have around the house. i think i've brewed that style more than any other and have gotten a really solid recipe down that everyone enjoys.

I was thinking about trying the classic recipe version of Stroh's, anyone try this revamped formula and have an opinion on how close it was too the 1960's version.

Sorry if this is too off topic.

do you have trader joes down there? They usually have descent beers for 3.99-4.99 /6pack

Yep, I just moved to Massachusetts and Trader Joe's doesn't sell alcohol here. I really miss the Trader Joes 3.99 6-packs! Simpler Times Lager was actually a really decent beer!

I think next time I am in Madison I am going to fill the car with a few cases! :drunk:

Kroger used to carry a cost cutter beer in the 80s for $.99 a 6 pack. my uncle who will drink milwalkees best hot said it was undrinkable

no trader joes around here but we do have a specs i went in there yesterday and they have singles for les than $5 of some out of the ordinary beers there i just got a anchor porter (my first porter!) it was good but not as good as Guinness! im fine with my cost effective bush! i just got frustrated with the lack of real beer in 99% of stores in Texas if you want a darker beer and you go to your common store you might pay $9 for a negra medello 6er or for shiner black about $8 or about $9 for Guinness and that's if you find it. bud light is the big thing here especially because of our large Hispanic population here on the good side if your lucky you will find ziggen bock for a deal or some bud-dry at few grocery stores

the most undrinkable beer i had was regular Schlitz beer way worse than there malt liquor witch is drinkable just nasty

Buy some leaf hops and dry hop in your glass while you drink. It helps! Just don't use pellets.
