My best brew yet!!!!! This picture does not even do this brew justice.... I popped one open after 10 days and this is what I poured....

I know... dont laught at my "beer mug with flowers...." I am temporarily separated from my good beer mugs. This is by far the best brew I have made. There were two firsts with this brew.... one was dry hopping and the other was using DME for priming instead of priming sugar. The DME definately leads to a better head and "different" carbonation... I am not sure how to explain it, but it is 100% better than using priming sugar... in fact my leftover priming sugar will go straight to the garbage. :) The only improve with this beer might be to use a hop bag or something for the dry hopping. A few of the bottles that I have poured are very very clear, and a few I can see the dry hop "floaties" in them.... but this is only a cosmetic problem... other than that this SNPA clone is outstanding. I based the recipe on BYO and ended up using this:

8 oz Caramel Malt 40L
6 oz Cara-Pils
6.6 lbs Northern Brewer Gold LME
2 oz Perle @ 6.3% AA (60 mins)
1 oz Cascade @ 5.6% AA (15 mins)
1 oz Cascade @ 5.6% AA (5 mins)
.5 oz Cascade @ 5.6% AA dry hopping
1 tsp Irish Moss
Wyeast 1056

ROCK ON!!!!!!!:rockin: :rockin:

Yes, the picture doesn't really convey the goodness of this beer ;)

I believe that this puts an end to the different clone recipes for this beer, as it is a home brew recipe that was designed with the help of the Sierra Nevada guys.

Sounds like a winner! :mug:

My SNPA clone was pretty good, too. It was from Clone Brews. Different recipe.

Next time I'm going to go with the hops on the SN website.

They use Magnum, Perle & Cascade:

Might be worth a try if you want to experiment a little..... :)

PS: Mine has a good head like yours. No DME priming here. In your case, I think it might be more the Cara-Pils than the DME. I used some maltodexrtrin instead of Cara-Pils. Then I did also use almost a whole cup of corn sugar for priming... lol
