Hi
First of all, I have a perfectly fine 2L Erlenmeyer flask that I have been making yeast starters with - its perfect
Over the holidays a friend gifted me a used 5L jar as she figured I could make better use of it
The jar has been used to pickle food; like pickles, onions, and such. When I got it home it smelled of said pickling/brining and I gave it a good scrub - it smelled like clean glass right after, if you know what i'm talking about
Fast forward a week later - I'm planning on making a 5 Liter starter with the jar and the smell is back; If I clean it it goes away - however it seems to come back after some time
Question is, will this smell, etc impact the yeast starter if I decide to make the starter with it, or should I go back to my 2L starter?
The beer i'm making isn't high alcohol, so it doesn't need a huge starter; I only wanted a ton of yeast to smash through the beer during fermentation
