So.... I didnt have any dme yesterday so i took some two row (7oz) and made a tiny batch of beer for my starter but i only ended up with a little over 600ml of wort starter when i pitched into the starter (white lab cali yeast). I plan to brew in a couple hours and the slurry is looking good in the flask but the reading ive done says it may hurt the yeast more then help it!
recipe is
13.5# 2 row
.5# crystal 40
1# carapils
1# corn sugar
(5gallon batch)
also, should i dump the liquid off the slurry when i pitch?

i guess i needed a better headline for peeps to read my post!
thanks theone

no more opinions huh... Well. I was thinking of using some cali V yeast that i previously washed and have to jars of it in the fridge. I might use these instead...... Any thoughts.... I got about 3 hours before i pitch..... mash is almost done and i have a 90 minute boil with a **** ton of hops!

What was the specific gravity of your wort?
With a 600ml starter you didn't get very much growth out of your yeast, but you didn't hurt the little guys either, if anything you upped their vitality so they will be ready and rarin' to go when you pitch. I wouldn't bother decanting, 600ml of oxidized wort isn't going to have any impact on the final product, just pitch the whole starter.

gravity was roughly 1.071. I pitched last night at 1030 and it seems to be starting to ferment
