terrible name , great beer .

i finally found a decent ipa in a can that doesnt taste like wet clay, a 9 volt battery or bic pen ink.

elysian stardust on the other hand was another drain pour - yuck.

can anyone reccomend an ipa in a can that actually tastes like hops and not like pasteurized aluminum.
thanks

If you don't like this, maybe you just don't like the style?
i love ipas on tap. when you can taste the hops . that aroma and flavor and aftertaste you get when you dry hop an ale with 2 + ounces of tropical fruity citrusy juicy hops that smell as soon as you pull the tap. i have a really tough time finding that in a can.

this thing tastes like hops but its 9 percent. not beer IMO.

i have used it to mix with beers i have made that came out underhopped. it tastes hoppy to me. but way to strong to drink pleasurably.

10 years ago before i knew that i liked ipas , lol i used to see ballast point sculpin all over. then i saw grapefruit sculpin and i turned my nose up to it because i never liked fruit beers or the idea of fruit flavored beer until i brewed a lager with zamba hops and it tasted like cantelope and was awesome.

now i try to get all my fruit intake through double dry hopped ales. 😉

i will definately go find some scuplin now . thanks

A second vote for fiddlehead, I think bells 2 hearted and cigar city jai alai deserve a mention. Local to me is troegs perpetual, which a lot of people like but I've lost a taste for it, maybe from over exposure haha.. I love taking cans of 2 hearted to the creek for some fly fishing, it just seems right.

i agree cigar city is good but i have a hard time finding it.
looks liek i could only get fiddlehead on a long road trip also.

i was tempted to try hazicus maximus today but its also 9 percent - too much

brooklyn brewery pulp art was at the store but i am pretty sure i tried that one before and wasnt impressed.

founders all day is a great beer but its rather plain. it taste like macro beer to me with malt and bitterness. but its not a hoppy beer IMO

ill try bells , its pretty widely available.

I'll admit, All Day is hit or miss. Sometimes, the aroma isn't there and other times it punches me in my face when I crack open a can.

I don't know if you can get it, but Homestyle (https://beardedirisbrewing.com/beer/homestyle/) by Bearded Iris is perhaps the best canned NEIPA I've ever had. I think it's single hop Mosaic, but good Mosaic. My memory may be a bit clouded, though. It was in Nashville. That town seems to favorably distort my memory for some reason ;-). But I tried it on multiple occasions since my youngest went to school there...

Your comparative tasting experience is off the hook.

Some more detail from OP would've been helpful. Lots of different colored pens out there. Blue? Black? Red? Is it a Bic, or PaperMate? And batteries.......Energizer or Duracell? Even Eveready batteries can have an impact on taste, depending on the type of hop and the crop year used by the brewery.

i didnt eat paint chips when i was a kid but i cant deny trying elmers glue. 😉

the malt liquor like abv levels combined with the pasteurized hops i think is whats causing a lot of the issue.

another drain pour today:

dont fall for this its a disaster. its like grapefruit flavored hard seltzer mixed with grapefruit juice and ipa. 🤢
