Anyone see a use in having a level gauge on an HLT, that already has internal level markings? Does it seem more precise in transferring strike and sparge water, or should I just open the lid and save a few bucks?

Thanks for your opinions.

i just use the internal etching. the transfer process is quick enough i dont think you'd lose that significant amount of heat to have your lid off long enough to drain the gallons you need.

Likely what I will do. It's only a little more in the grand scheme of things, but probably fluff.
