Should my starter have this much Krausen?

This is the 1st started I have made by stepping up from a slant. My 1st step was around 200ml, and just had a small cap of foam for a while. I stepped this up Monday night, and it has looked like this for about 24 hours now. I believe I had read that starters on a stir plate usually settle down quickly. Since I started with a slant, I'm just a little worried about contamination.

No big deal, some strains will do this, others may not but it looks normal and I wouldn't worry about it!

Cool thanks. It's US-05, so I've never made a starter with it before as I've always used it dry.

You really didn't need to make a starter, just rehydrate. Dry yeast has what it needs to be used dry and an 11.5g pack has 200B cells!

It actually came from a slant, which originally came from a re-hydrated package.
