My first brew was in the beginning of Dec. It was a holiday ale kit from brewers best. It went well, but I let my fermentation temp get away 77+ and I have a ton of fusel as well as a "sweetness"

I left it in primarily for 2 weeks, secondary for 3 and bottled. I just cracked one open and it is pretty close to undrinkable.....

Should I dump it or give it time?

Always give it time. It might not come around, I had one that I gave a year too and it was only slightly better, but it might wind up being really good.
If not try giving them to others, youd be surprised what you think isn't good, other people like.:mug:

Set it aside and brew a new one. Keep your ferm temps in check. Maybe the first one will come around.

The 77+ temps probably created some fusel alcohols which can be fairly harsh to consume.
I still have a 6 pack of the first brew I ever made which i also fermented at a higher temp (along with alot of added brown sugar to boost the ABV). Its been sitting downstairs for a few years now. The last time I tried one it was still undrinkable.
If you dont need the bottles, let them sit for awhile while you brew another batch. Giving them to your friends is also a good option.
As mentioned earlier, work on keeping the fermentation temps down and you'll notice an immediate improvement in your beer.
Have fun!

If you don't need the bottles then try letting it age. It may reduce the hotness some, but fusels never really go away. So it will never be a great beer.

You can always use it for cooking.
