Separate stands for HLT, MT, BK: modular?

Hi, I was curious if there were any threads with people making separate stands for their HLT, MT and BK? I have been googling and searching but failed to turn any up. My idea is to build them separately for the sake of storage and being able to build it in phases.

I've seen a few builds on separate stands. My only problem with that idea is that you now need 9 (for three legged) or 12 ( for four legged) legs plus cross members instead of 4 legs and fewer cross members. Depending upon the materials that you choose there might be a significant price difference.

Easier storage might be a valuable plus for separate stands though, especially if they can nest together for storage.

A friend of mine is doing this for storage reasons as well as for allowing a phased approach for the build.

There are other pluses as well. You can start out with a BIAB setup and add a MLT and HLT when you have the money. He is able to transport his gear for a road brew in a small SUV vs a truck. You can bring just one component on the road for a BIAB session or a crab boil. You can arrange things in an L vs a straight line (if you are limited by room).

About the only down side I can see is there will be more parts and wheels which will add to the cost but you can also spread it out over a longer time. Also, you haven't invested as much money in a 1/3 system if you decide AG isn't for you.

I have individual stands for my rig. I have pictures in my profile. I did it that way so I could move stuff around and customize the set up easily. I also brew in the basement, so getting a huge stand up and down the stairs wasn't really an option. One of my stands I made to where I can break it down into small pieces so I can tote it somewhere more easily if I want to brew off site (which I never do). Just make a rig that works for you, that's what DIY is all about.
