I have been using a kit from Brooklyn Brew Shop that comes with a screw cap to put on the fermenter jug. After brewing and storing it, I noticed that the screw cap was broken, and, the next morning, foam was oozing out of the sides of the cap. I put wet paper towels around the cap, and now the foaming at the cap stopped, and co2 is flowing through the blowoff tube like it should.
Do I have to worry about my beer getting contaminated overnight before I put the paper towels on? It what I did enough to prevent the beer from becoming oxidized?
