Anyone think they've seen one? (and you cannot claim your mother-in-law as a sighting....I tried that...doesn't work to well) :D

I used to be a believer, but no longer. There's no way such a large animal could have eluded us for so long. We've encountered far more elusive and much smaller animals than this one. There would be scientific evidence by now if they existed.

Does this count? It's a Yeti!

We called my old roommate sasquatch. Guy was a 6'7" and about 260 lbs of raw muscle rugby player. Not someone you'd like to get in a scrum with.

But as far as the big hairy guy supposedly running around in the woods, as much as I'd like to believe they're out there, I really can't find any reason to ignore the fact there's absolutely no evidence of them that couldn't be a hoax or misconstrued as something else.

This exactly.

Someone somewhere in the world would have either shot one (with a camera or a bullet) or someone would have stumbled upon a carcass.

I thinka body has never been found because Bigfoots are Alien Scouts....and they just visit and then leave......there is a strong correlation between bigfoot and UFO sightings......

"Honey..can you get me another Home Brew...........feeling very smart....." :D

It cant be a coincidence that almost every civilization around the world has their own version of the same "creature" with out any way of them communicating to each other.

We have a friend of the family who claims and to this day believes he almost hit one with his truck here in Mo. While the guy is a prankster of sorts with some things, he is much more serious when discussing that event.

I feel the same as mkringii, with almost every civilization claiming to have something similar in the folklore or beliefs throughout the world, it has to be based on something. Even if it's a rare gorilla, it's something. Of all the Crypto creatures out there, I think Sasquatch is the most realistic and likely to be someday found.

The stories go back so far they have become legend. SOMETHING is making huge, human shaped footprints. There have been far too many huge footprints for far too long, in far too many areas to be a complete hoax, though there have been many & continue to be many hoaxes.

People thought the coelacanth was extinct, not just extinct, but extinct 65 MILLION YEARS AGO; Now there are LIVE coelacanth swimming around in aquariums. People thought the platypus was a hoax & rightly so; I mean who would've believed there really was a sort of furry rat looking thing that lived in the water, had a duck-like bill, layed eggs & produced milk for its young? The jackalope is easier to believe than that. But the platypus IS real.

If the coelacanth can have survived all this time, why not a hominid? It's been postulated that bigfoot/sasquatch/yeti are modern evolutionary variants of gigantopithecus. I'll admit it's a bit of a stretch, especially considering the size of their genepool, but again, SOMETHING is out there; we just haven't positively identified it yet.

I've never seen a bigfoot/sasquatch/yeti, but I've seen casts of what are allegedly their footprints. I've seen hair samples that could not be identified by proffessionals who do that sort of thing for a living. Of course I've seen the Patterson film & several other films/videos that people claim are of bigfoot/sasquatch/yeti.

I don't know if it's real or not, but considering legends of such creatures go back over 200 years & span not just cultures, but continents; and the alleged "evidence," I'm inclined to believe there is indeed SOMETHING out there that hasn't yet been proved to exist.
That's my 2 cents worth, happy hunting. :D
Regards, GF.

What about dragons? They span cultures and continents but what they were all dinosaurs?

There's a little kid in me that knows Bigfoot is real because nanana boo boo

Its thought that dragons come from early discoveries of dinosaur fosils. It seems plausable that the tales could come from that.

Do I believe in bigfoot, not really. Is it possible that a creature of that type is out there, absolutely yes.

If they do exsist i hope they stay away from my house. I would need to brew everyday then. But i bet the conversation would be great.

"who's been chasing you"

Let's see, your primitive with no science and scared that the lightning is some angry god.
You have nearly no understanding of the world around you.
You are making up things that explain what scares you.
Something that resembles you ( base new creature on what you know ), but is very large and strong ( makes them scary ), and is covered in hair ( like all the rest of the animals you know ).

Yep, seeing a real bigfoot would be the only explanation.

That seems like a very narrow minded review of primitve people. You have to understand that these people knew the flora and fauna, infact it was what they lived off of. They didnt cower in a cave over lighnting, then go to a grocery store to buy dandelion greens and rabbit meat. They may not have had the technology and science that we have but they understood the natural world.

Now to discount that even farther, the sightings and reports werent just in primitive times. In colonial america there were thousands of reported sightings, during westward expansion even more. To discount it all would be narrow minded. There are even reports today in very unpopulated places.

One theory is that the sasquatch is a humanoid but an evolutionary set thought to be extinct. It would make sense as at many times in history different human evolutions lived near eachother, Why would they all be extinct today. There are even reports as recent as recent as the early 1800s in seberia by russain soldiers of being confronted by a group of neolithic looking humanoids and killing them

It's not narrow minded at all. If you look at the evidence and ignore the logical answers that's narrow minded.

These people had a lot of mythical beings in their culture.
The early Europeans arrived here may have seen sasquatch but they burned which is also.

Throughout the centuries of this thing existing, There has been no hard evidence of an animal that is 7 foot tall and would probably weigh between three and four hundred pounds.
No one has found the body of one that was killed by a bear or a cougar, an injured one has never been found, no bones in the woods, no fossil remains, never a single good picture and not one bit a physical evidence that they can get a DNA sample from like some hair that was caught on a fence or branch for example.

The odds are overwhelmingly in favor of this being a mythical creature that has been perpetuated.
If it exists or not ,you have to admit that many of the sightings are probably a bear or a prankster.

None of that proves the lacking of existence of Bigfoot, but the evidence is someone overwhelming.

There's neolithic humanoids on islands near India, but they aren't sasquatches.

WAsnt saying neolitihc man was sasquatch, just an example of human subspicies living togather. Its not really that proposterous to think that more could possibly be
