Right now I use clear vinyl tubing for racking, siphoning, etc. After using, before anything has a chance to dry, I run hot tap water through it...next use, it gets StarSan. Would there be any benefit to switching to silicone, and boiling each time before using?

IMO, nope.

I only use silicone for hot liquid transfers such as mash tun-to-boil kettle or post boil whirlpooling.

I prefer silicone tubing for all uses because it is more flexible and has less tendency to kink. Doesn't make better beer, just personal preference. Use what you are comfortable with.

Brew on :mug:

I boil my vinyl tubing for a few minutes. Never had an infection. 100+ batches with the same tube, and have never, ever used starsan.
