I bought a six pack of this last night....I have no idea what witbier even is but I liked this beer. The blackberry was "fake" tasting and smelled fake but overall I would like to try something like this with some frozen blackberrys. I did a google search and the hits were mainly all bad mouthing the beer. to do this would I simply look up a recipe for witbier and rack it into a secondary with some blackberrys? Do I crush the blackberrys like I would for wine or do I leave em whole?

You're pretty much right on. Most times when I add a fruit to a beer, I brew the beer first and let it go through the primary, then smash the berries up and add them to the secondary. Siphon the beer onto the berries.

If the berries have some sort of sugar on them, it will re-kick off fermentation...so it's usually best to add straight fruit.

I love that beer! I only found it in the sampler box. Haven't seen it in sixers around here. Sam Adams is one of my favorite beer companies.
Thanks for the idea of making it! Don't know why I didn't think about that.

ok now what about an extract recipe to make the initial beer before the berries?
