Hi there I have gotten my 3 wire RTD P100.

It has 2 blue wires and 1 red wire connection. You can see my XLR connection accepts the 3 wires plus a ground.

Question how or what do I connect to ground?

Is there a standard connection for the 2 Blue and 1 Red terminal on the XLR CON? Example do the Blue go on the outside posts and the red on the center post?

Thx

I would say make sure they are wired to the same posts that you will be connecting to on your control panel. If I remember correctly, the two blue didn't matter, but the red needs to be connected to the same red wire in the control panel.

Undo the connector at the sensor end and buzz out the contacts on the cable with a multimeter. Keep the same arrangement on the XLR you are adding to the other end if the pins can be matched up in some way.

The other discrepency is the EZBOIL manual states

the two red wires should be connected to the terminals 3 and 4. The white wire should be connected to terminal 5.

I have 2 Blue wires and 1 Red. So do my blue go to terminals 3 and 4, and red to terminal 5?

Thx

By process of deduction, I concluded the following.

THere is 100 OHMs between Blue and Red and 0 OHMS between Blue(s).

Therefore the Blues must go to pins 3 and 4 on EZBOIL. And Red on pin 5.

Now for the ground on XLR CONN, the only thing I can think of is to attach a wire to the exterior shield of the PT100 and then connect that wire to the ground post on the XLR CON.

The two wires with the same color both go to one end of the PT100 resistor, and are used for measuring the wire resistance. The single wire goes to the other end. If you measure the resistance, it will be low between the two wires the same color, and about 100 Ohm higher between different colored wires. It doesn't matter what the colors are, just connect the two the same to 3 and 4, and the odd one out to 5.

There's no need to do this. Just connect the three wires.

Connecting the ground may give you a ground loop between that and your kettle/vessel/element AC power ground, and might give higher noise on the temperature sensor.

Thanks for the responses. I think I am in sync with you and will not connect ground.
