I originally posted this in the wrong place I think. I definitely belong in the beginner's room. Here are some pics of what my very first batch looked like after 7 days. I thought I had cleaned my all-new equipment meticulously, as well as the dark room where I left the batch completely undisturbed. There are five different colors of gunk here. The beer tastes okay, but still sweet. Only a slight sour smell. So...should I throw it out or wait it out? If it's infected, what, aside from cleaning, could I have done wrong?

you were getting answers there

didn't like them ?

could be mold, could be fermentation

let it ride for a bit and see, worst case you made a sour

drink it quick and enjoy

all the best

edit: by the way any OG or FG reading as to gravity now ? to see if it is fermenting

Hmmm... That's creepy looking.

Let it ride for a while. See what happens... For Science!!!

Seriously. See what happens and keep us updated.

You could also rack the beer from under that mess into another vessel... if you're desperate. It may not help if it is an infection though.

Looks infected to me.... but i could be wrong, wait it out for a few more days and see what happens :)
