I made a 5 gallon batch of Centennial Blonde on Sunday night using my turkey fryer biab method. When I clean and put away my kettle I put a piece of paper towel between the bottom of the kettle and the strainer basket (I constructed 3 "feet" using stainless steel bolts nuts and washers and want to avoid scratching the boil kettle in storage). Needless to say I forgot to remove the paper towel and didn't find it until I pulled the strainer and grain bag at the end of the mash. The paper towel was fully intact and wasn't at all scorched thankfully.
I've read lots of posts regarding not wanting to scortch your voile bag during heating and I wasn't sure if that was for risk of adding bad flavors or if it was to avoid the risk of splitting the bag and spilling all the grains. My issue is sort of similar to this concept I'm guessing.
While I in no way considered not going through with the boil and fermentation I was wondering if anyone could provide an opinion on what, if any, negative flavor impact this might have on my end product.
Thanks!
