Here's an easy BIAB, Half Batch Recipe. It is a NorthWest Pale Ale. Hope you enjoy!
Grains:
6 lbs US Pale Malt (93%)
4 oz Cara-Pils (3.9%)
3.2 oz Crystal 60 (3.1%)
*Mash @ 150 for 60 min
* After 60 Min, Bring Mash Temp. up to 170 for 10 min.
Boil:
@60 -> 0.25 oz Magnum
@15 -> 0.5 Whirlfloc Tablet
@10 -> 0.75 oz Cascade
@ O -> 1 oz Cascade (Steep for 20 Minutes, Covered)
After 20 min Stand -> Chill to 68F
Fermentation:
Pitch @ 68F With Cali Ale Yeast
After 6 Days -> Dry Hop 1 oz Cascade & 0.25 Chinook
Check Gravity on day 14 of fermentation
Check Gravity on day 16 of fermentation
Bottle/Keg based on Gravity Readings.
(I bottle and condition for three weeks, followed by a week in the fridge)
Summary:
This is a simple recipe that I really like. I have previously over-thought Pale Ales in my brewing, and came to this recipe as a conclusion. It is not overly bitter. I like my Pale Ales nice and light with a great hop flavor. The ABV is 5.7, and the beer has a nice foamy head.
