My dad and I are going to try our first partial mash tomorrow. We want to make a nutty brown ale with a real good nut flavor, maybe even some hazelnut if possible. I have no idea where to even start looking for a GOOD recipe. Lots come up on google, but how do I know what's a good one? I'm so overwhelmed with all the recipes, I'm ready to just go buy a kit.

Check out the English brown ale section in recipes. There are a bunch on there. I have made a few of Yoopers recipes and they have been great.

Victory malt will usually provide the nuttiness you are looking for, and I've used between .5-1# in a nut brown ale before. The recipe database is full of good suggestions.

Can you get any genuine British specialty malts? Medium crystal, or amber or brown malt? (I've not used them myself yet, I have some on order) I think you want amber malt and a little crystal.

I brewed this about 6 wks ago & its delicious already.
