Ok, so this is gonna be a REALLY STUPID QUESTION, just so you are aware. Mods, feel free to move this elsewhere, since I am probably putting it in the wrong place anyway (sorry about that).

Here goes: Those of you that list a brewery in your signature line (or wherever) like YooperBrew (Broken Leg Brewery), are you really micro/nano breweries or are you just home brewers having fun with the hobby?

I'm just curious to know.

Z.

Most are having fun with the hobby. Then again, if I want to send a model rocket up over my house and tell people I run an aerospace company, who'd argue with me? :ban:

It is..........

When I first saw it, I thought they were all micro/nano breweries, but pretty quickly came to the conclusion that it was just a bunch of losers pretending to have a real brewery. Within a week I was brainstorming name and label ideas of my own. It's a fun dream. :D

I do have a real brewery...just not a real money making brewery. I have a room. In it, I brew beer. You've been on here a few months, where's YOUR name?!?!? :D:mug:

-Message brought to you by the hard working folks at the Almaigan Brewing Company. Almaigan, we brew beer the old fashioned way...in a bucket!

+1. It's fun plus I have some pint glasses, a big glass pitcher and a tap handle with a generic logo and my brewery name on it and plan on puting my actual logo on a big glass mirror as part of my bar build.

I've got some ideas, but I'm planning on a dog-related name (I know, super original), so I'm waiting until I get my first dog so that it will actually make sense. I think I'm leaning towards Hound Dog Brewing.

EDIT: Also, you can't blame my present self for the misunderstandings of my past self. :D

So far I've been calling mine Legion st brewery but who knows what I'll call it when I move. It's fun to call it something other than my homebrew.

It is also a way I have introduced some golf and hockey buddys to homebrew. I just tell them I brought some beer from this brewery. They drink it and like it. I never get that krinkled nose hesitant look that I'm sure a lot of you have seen when you say HOMEBREW.

99% of them are just fictional names

Fictional? Fictional? Heck no. It's a REAL name. It's just not a real brewery!

Yes, this. :cross:

My name came about by the way I "fell into" brewing. (Get it, fell into? Broken leg? Never mind). I don't have a logo or anything, because I'm not quite that delusional.

I still need to add to my signature. My 'brewery' is called Rhino Face. That is the nickname for my 9 mo old son. Like others have said, just a little bit of fun. I am not going to get crazy with labels, but I think I will make a few that hang on the neck. It would be nice to have something like that for when I (reluctantly) give beer to friends/family.

I do enjoy the dog theme, but my two dogs are labradoodles (SWMBO...), and this just doesn't sound like too strong of a name. My little puppy's (60 lbs at 9 months) name is General Neyland though, that has promise. I did name a super dark brown ale I brewed Blackjack. Blackjack brewing has a nice ring to it.

Devil Duck Brewery really brews beer. You just ain't gonna find it on the shelf of ANY store in the world.

Hey, you yeasties over there, get back to fermenting or your FRIED!

Exactly! We all have a brewery. Most of us don't, however, own a brewing business. Of course I name mine Almaigain Brewing Company to really muddy the issue! :D

I kinda thought that was the case, especially since it seemed every thread had almost every person with their own brewery in the sig line. Then to day most of the threads I read didn't have anything so I got to wondering.....

I've been thinking about it and am currently leaning towards "Crazy S Brewery" but it's still a work in progress.....

Hahaha- I actually did "laugh out loud". You are also part of the obsession! You ask if our names are "real" breweries, and then come up with a name for yours. That's so awesome.

I was first Broken Leg Cellars, because I was a winemaker who just dabbled in beer. But now, my brewery is much more forefront in my mind. I mean, I have an indoor all electric HERMS brew set up. For wine, I still mash some fruit and ferment it. But for brewing, I've learned some water chemistry, a bit about electricity, yeast culturing, and BJCP styles. It's a totally evolving hobby, and I love it.

I have an insulated 14x28foot Garage outback that is completely dedicated to my brewery obsession.., errr I mean hobby. Brewing stand, recirc system, the whole works.

So the most natural thing to do.......call it a brew house right?

The Big-Phoot Brew House

Truth be told, I have been thinking about it for several weeks on and off. Mostly about making labels so I can tell what's in each bottle easily. Joining here just made me want to do it all the more. Then I thought coming up with a name might be a bit much and decided to ask.

Anyway....

Fake names for homebreweries is stupid...and on that note...I claimed Six String Brewery a while ago and if anyone tries to steal it, I will cut your achilles :D
