I've just recently started using a blowoff tube into a pitcher filled with starsan. On my last batch i noticed the starsan turning completely brown from the yeast & a good size layer of yeast on the bottom, so I dumped it and replaced it with a new one. Is it possible to re-use this yeast? Would it be like top-cropping? If so, would I "wash" it & store it in mason jars like I do with a yeast cake?

My blow off tubes are not the prettiest places in the world, so I wouldn't. But if you really think your process is sanitary, then go for it. Just be sure to wash the yeast with sterile water and get it off the Star-San. (very low pH there)

Take a look at this. It's a DIY Burton Union, originating from England. I made one. You do need to be concerned with sanitation but it is nice for top cropping.
