That’s why Harry has a fleet. Always something to fly when one is in the shop.

My SIL manages one of the maintenance shops for a large fixed base operation at KBIL. The guy who manages Ford’s collection cold called Jeff one day, almost 5 years ago, and quizzed him about old airplanes, radial engines, and aircraft sheet metal work for about 40 minutes. Finally, Ford’s guy told him that the convo amounted to an interview and his shop got the job. The airplane was ferried to Billings and Jeff and his crew had it in the shop for almost 6 months doing extensive upgrades to the airframe, engine and interior. The plane then went across the ramp to an avionics shop where it got a complete, digital, upgrade to the instrument panel, communications, and navigation equipment. When all the work was done, the final bills would have paid for a decent starter home in many zip codes.

Jeff got some pics of his oldest son, who’s now 6, in the plane while it was in the shop.

My wife and I stopped at a Starbucks in Malibu while driving down the coast. The place was packed and my wife and I got separated while waiting for our order. I grabbed the drinks and made it out a side door and then waited for my wife. Eventually, she came out the front door with a big smile on her face. She explained that a nice man had asked her if she needed help getting out of the Starbucks and then led the way to the door. When they got to the door, the man opened it for her and told her to "have a nice day young woman." It was only then that my wife realized the man was Harrison Ford. It made her day..."he called me 'young woman.'"

I once had the pleasure of meeting his band mate, the late John Entwistle.

Even Pete mellowed out in later years. He stopped smashing guitars and did some great shows.

Saw the Who at the St. Paul Civic Center in 1982. Good show. Friend who worked for the record label got us backstage passes, so we met the band.
