is VA the battleground for 'how many times can we dry-hop a QIPA'? An at Mekong/Answer has consistently said over the past couple years that he wants "triple dry hopped" to be known as a Answer thing. Veil and now Aslin are doing "quintuple dry hop", etc...
when will the hop wars end? straight hop juice with a dash of water?

What is this friend chicken you speak of, am I missing out on something new again like frosted flake/ lucky charms?

Notes / Commercial Description:
Fried Fried Chicken Chicken is our latest collabo with our good friendz @eviltwinbrewing. Clocking in at 8%, FFCC is a DDH Old Country DIPA hopped v heavily with Citra, Simcoe, and Enigma. The idea came to us after eating a significant amount of fried chicken at various establishments in our beautiful city of Richmond. We actually put a VERY small amount of Fried Chicken in one of two of the mashes(less than .4% of the total weight of the mash contents). It doesn't even remotely taste like chicken. If you think it does, you might want to go to the doctor bucko!

This beer makes an 11% triple dry-hopped IPA seem quaint by comparison:

So GBH are being criticised for doing an article highlighting Instagram accounts displaying brewers’ boorish behavior?

I think the bigger issue was this...
They didn't contact all the breweries they mentioned, because "that would be a lot of work". Then maybe don't mention them? Take a second to draft up an e-mail and ask for comment. If they reply with anything useful, use that, if not then you are free to interpret their message as they did not want to comment.

...and obviously not giving said breweries an opportunity to tell their sides of the story in the article. If you go to the AMA that TommyShitt just posted above, you can see a bit more.

It was also pointed out that the article may be hypocritical in that they are calling out specific breweries for what may be interpreted as misogyny, sexism, etc. while only having three females on a 24-person staff.

So GBH are being criticised for generally engaging in lazy journalism, which is sort of par for the course, but this time in a way to target breweries while simultaneously cashing a cash from a company that has a storied history of errrrm "boorish" marketing.

Yes exactly! ;)

Really it's just more of the same hack, amateur-hour, "you just don't understand our creative vision" beer journalism that defines their brand. But this time maybe there's extra ire because it's targeting small businesses.

I'm still not seeing what the issue is apart from Kiser having a history of annoying people.

Not really a prerequisite for running a story though is it?

Phew. Lucky the article I was hyping above was written by a female.

(that comment looks like blatant whataboutism to me)

Eh, merely was just answering your original question about why there was a buzz today. Some of the breweries mentioned took offense after feeling like they were thrown under a bus and/or unfairly looped into a group without a chance for rebuttal or explanation.

I've little experience with GBH aside from a couple articles that Cory wrote, as he's a friend (not sure if you have crossed paths with him or not, as he's in our area).

Are you really going with a "freedom of speech" argument?

Nope, not at all. But I don't expect every opinion piece published in the media to come with a rebuttal built into it.

All I can see here is a article shining a light on some distasteful and very public bants between brewers and people lining up to shoot the messenger.

That's fair, he definitely doesn't seem to have much good will in the community. Still, I'd assume if you're under that much scrutiny, you'd do your due diligence to not **** up your reputation more - and something as simple as reaching out to the breweries you're publicly calling out is editorial journalism 101.
