RAR Brewing in MD. They mashed in with 1,000 waffle cones. Two different varieties of vanilla bean. 7.3% DIPA. Told a friend that I would snag him some.

Not sure if you will believe this or not in Beer2017, but these tickets sold out.

Sounds similar to something that has been available in MI for a year or two that turds up the shelf: Cranium Crush by Petosky. It is a cream ale (so no hype) made with raspberry and crushed waffle cones. And it is even sold in 16 oz cans.

How can selling alcohol without a license be "fine"? I don't get that at all.

I think if it's just a "collectible" bottle here or there between hobbyists it's no different than selling vintage guitars on Craigslist or whatever. It'd probably be a different story if you were reselling large quantities of booze out of your house without a liquor license.

Currently drinking East Meets West, the Tree House/Sierra Nevada collaboration. This being my first actual exposure to the world of Tree House, I have to ask, is this reflective of their usual quality? Because while good, it definitely isn't remarkable. It'd be nice to know if I should continue seeking out Tree House or not.

It's not particularly representative of the general Tree House hoppy taste, and the same applies for the representitiveness of all the Band Camp beers for the collaborating brewery. Whether it's worth seeking out Tree House or any of the other brewers shouldn't be negatively affected by these collabs.

It was funny reading the Tree thread on BA because people were crying that Nate from Tree House simply must have been duped to have brewed a beer like this, never mind the vast differences between Sierra and Tree in system, scale, and distribution format.

Full disclosure I have not had East Meets West, but probably 99.5% of what I have heard about this beer is that it is not near what most TH IPAs are. AKA it's mainly a Sierra (i.e. "West Coast") IPA...I've had a whole lot of TH IPA's and I certainly think they are worth seeking out if for nothing else than just to try, but I certainly wouldn't judge that based on this collab. Next time I get some I'm happy to send one along if you'd like.

Suddenly I'm regretting my purchase. This is the first of the set I've opened, and it is perfectly fine. But I'm definitely not big on Sierra Nevada. Outside of collaborations, it has been a long while since I've bought bottles of anything they make.

This is so amazingly true. I remember reading an interview somewhere that Nate said how excited he was to work with Sierra given what they've done for beer and how honored he was to get the opportunity to have the collab, while all of the homies in the FB groups said things along the lines of "Sierra is so ******* lucky TH agreed to work with them" or "OMG can you believe TH is willing to work with them?". Just so ******* incredibly stupid, but such is the state of beer today.
