That sounds delicious, how do I find it

Well, it was one of the Mikkeller SD cans, so I don't know if any made it to Europe or not. I'm frankly surprised we saw it here in MI, as we've received none of the previous or subsequent pint cans from there, only the contemporaneously released Beer Geek Thailand.

I know the locations in the Northeast have different ownership than the Texas locations, but it surprises me that Ginger Man has become so irrelevant down in Texas. I remember having very favorable impressions of both the Boston and NYC locations. Hell, in Boston they are the only bar (rather than brewpub/tasting room) where you can order a flight of beer instead of full pours.

Ginger Man always carried a lot of import and a little local which made them a pretty popular craft destination (at least outside Austin) in the 2000s. The problem is that as more local breweries and craft bars opened they never kept up with the times. It seems quite the opposite, like now they carry more import and the largest domestic craft brands with a shrinking volume of local beers. The Austin location always carried more local beers than other locations but even the last couple times I went there it seemed like they had fewer than they used to. It's basically a loving reminder of what craft beer was like in 2004 in Texas.

All the talk about Sierra Nevada Beer Camp reminded me of something...

I'm kind of getting "over" craft beer. I've had a couple of beers by new-ish breweries that just tasted like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or Torpedo to me. I get servicing your local area with fresh IPAs but aside from "ticking" a beer some of these aren't different enough to seek out.

AB-Inbev opening a new brewery less than a block away from J. Wakefield. This could get interesting.

This actually sounds like a really interesting concept that someone probably should've thought of before ABi. Latin American themed brewery in Miami sounds great. The brewmaster seems capable as well.

Miami is also not a big "craft beer" town like Tampa. The locals aren't gonna care who owns them if they're making quality product (I would imagine they will).

Exactly, most of the people that drink at JW taproom aren't beer nerds. The guys in charge of Veza Sur know their stuff and will attract more people based solely on the setting. If they offer decent food and micheladas I can see them making a killing in the area.

nathanmiller is rustling so many jimmies right now on my twitter feed...

FWIW, I agree with you that we shouldn't be weeping for Karbach or anybody else who has "sold out" the past couple years (breweries above 225k bbl [total made by parent company including subsidiaries... so with Karbach they would include ABi in that total) would be unable to sell direct to consumer), however this thing could be inched down to effect smaller craft brewers in the future.

Karbach, in particular, in the original article did not win any favors from me when they mentioned that they would quit fundraising for the community. That's ******.

Still, be interested to see if this passes.

In happier news there's a bill to allow sales off-site at breweries going through the legislature right now....

You can buy beer once a month with a maximum of 4.5 gallons...

It is really more like 'block away from Concrete Beach' - which for those who don't know - is Sam Adam's little craft venture in Miami and has been in operation for two years now. Veza Sur is AB InBev's response to that as it seems to have got off the ground in similar fashion and will be going for the same crowd - the more casual tourist hopping around Wynwood who now has another brewery on their list to visit. For the most part this isn't really the same group that frequents the tap rooms at Wynwood Brewing or Wakefield.

I coincidentally walked by the construction site a few days ago checking out a new pizza place on the same block. I hope things work out as it's a good thing for Miami in general to have the district continue to thrive.

Thanks for the clarification, a different article I read said they were on Wakefield's block. It's a cool concept, if the beer is any decent I could see myself spending some time there rather than at Wakefield to be honest. The beer was good but I wasn't a fan of Wakefield's taproom, would rather go to Kush or Boxelder.

Is it still a Zika hot zone?

(Autocorrected to Zima)

How you doin

Zima + jolly ranchers for the Jr high girls throwback
I am not sending you an invite if you are going to do that to Zima. Srs, I think Japaneze Zima is different than US Zima. There is no need to adulterate Japanese Zima. Haven't tried pink flavor yet, but I am excite to tick.

It is pretty much a block up from both Wakefield and Concrete Beach (both equidistant in terms of walking). Wynwood Brewing is three blocks away. My comment was more about how there will now be four breweries in the area, catering to slightly different crowds. I visit Kush and Boxelder as often as I can. Now I might hit Kush to feed my gator bite addiction today :)

The regular Zima in Japan didn't taste any different to me. I had the pink Sakura version last time I was in Japan, kinda faint cherry flavored malt booze.

Awesome. I thought it had a very clean Yuzu flavor and I thought the US version would have some ****** smirnoff ice syrupy lemon lime flavor that has to be choked down. Srs, no need to adulterate.

trickytunadicky there are 16 bottles of sleepydave liquid in my car as I type this. I don't know why I'm telling you this because I'm not giving you any now. Zima, lol. I grew up on that ****. "Clean Yuzu flavor" the **** outta here with that.
