Is there an app to check those in? Tickers gotta tick.

When I was a kid they had some dude come give a presentation to the whole school. **** was lame. Anyways they did the whole raise your hand if this and that and then the dude said raise your hand if you just don't like raising your hand and I was one of the only ones to not raise my hand still. I didn't raise it once.

I've always been a badass.

Not as cool as the yo-yo performers?

Might be yanking a chain but really hope he had his mom drive 10 hours to get beer.

This doesn't surprise me at all. What is surprising is that he realizes how absurd it is. Most of the idiots these days would just expect the person they entered to get it no matter the circumstances.

He's actually a good buddy of mine and is super aware of how it looks to ask his mother to grab these for him, however he travels for work constantly and shares all of his best beers with his family and friends. He was actually one of the first traders I met, and dude even came to my bachelor party.

Small world!

Well good for him and his mom is ******* awesome if she does that.

Your box is coming soon!

So this isn't directed at anyone in particular here, and not toward the Toppling Goliath KBBS & Assassin release at all. However, the backlash has given me some things to ponder. Namely, the fact that my father (who did 31 years in law enforcement) wouldn't be working his current gig as an assistant brewer / handyman at a local brewery without the background he gained by getting involved in craft beer / going to events and limited releases / going to tastings with his son 5+ years ago. And he will tell anyone who listens (and those that don't) that he is having a much better time in his second career than he ever had in his first one.

While some of the folks who are having family mule for releases might want to ease back on the social media posting about it, I'm personally not in the camp that is going to bring out the pitchforks to bitch about seeing folks with their parent / s in lines at events.

I save that anger for breweries who sell kettle sours for $25+ a bottle and the canned IPA hazy nonsense.

Tony, the operative word there is "with." Hell, I never send my dad to something I don't expect him to pick up bottles for him first.

I ask my dad to pick up beer for me, he then drinks one of said beer and pulls out of the trade cause it's "too good to let go of" or "forgets" to send it then drinks it.

Sigh.

Your dad sounds cool as **** or as the kids would say straight 100

My dad has gone on multiple weekend trips with my friends and I to de Garde release parties and finds his way on to private party buses and drinks more than us. He then drives us to more breweries. Dude is the best enabling wing man. My dad is easily cooler than I am.

I drank with both of my parents at Cantillon a couple summers ago. Hell, they've been to more breweries than I have. Damn lucky retired life.

Flying back to LA from Portland right now after an awesome weekend. Between De Garde and Upright, I acquired a case of stuff to bring home with me. When I was checking in for my flight (Alaska Air), I found out that it's free to check a case of "wine" when you fly out of Portland on Alaska (as long as you have an Alaska frequent flier number). Wine barrel-aged wild ales are basically the same thing, right?
